Charlie Wood from Portsmouth University positions a wide-nozzle Cryostream for micro-CT analysis.

The first ever Wide Nozzle Cryostream for microCT has been installed at the University of Portsmouth!

Charlie Wood will be utilizing this cutting-edge device for X-ray microscopy with sub-micron resolution. It provides a significant enhancement to cryogenic sample cooling for a variety of biological samples, including plant and animal tissues.

The Wide Nozzle provides a large area of cryogenic gas, beneficial for cooling the big samples that get used in X-ray microscopy, and allows for the examination of larger sample regions compared to other techniques such as cryo-Electron Microscopy.

This installation at the University of Portsmouth marks the commercialisation of this technology and represents a significant advancement in research capabilities across the board. We look forward to the future discoveries this will facilitate!
